Tebis presents MES Proleis at the Moulding Expo
The typical complexity of single-part manufacturing in die and mold manufacturing requires end-to-end solutions for production that connect all participants, including the project manager, planners, purchasers, designers, project schedulers, NC programmers, manufacturing and assembly staff, stock manager, and external suppliers. Tebis offers comprehensive data management, manufacturing planning and manufacturing control functions with the Proleis manufacturing execution system (MES) from ID Ingenieurgesellschaft für Datentechnik mbH, Erndtebrück, Germany. It enables effective procurement and manufacturing planning and control of all individual parts of sheet metal dies and injection molds—from quotation to the finished product.
Quotation process and planning
Project managers can quickly and easily check during preplanning to see whether proposed projects can be processed and required delivery dates can be met. At this stage it can be determined which components will be manufactured in house and which will be outsourced. This establishes a transparent basis for decisions.
Once planners, project schedulers and those responsible for manufacturing create more detailed project plans, Proleis offers fast and convenient tools to organize and control capacity. All manufacturing steps for the individual parts are defined and scheduled using standardized planning templates. A manufacturing control station with automatic capacity synchronization ensures optimal utilization of employees and machines to meet production deadlines. Once planning is complete, a supply of orders is provided for each resource—employee or machine—for processing in the specified sequence.
Purchasing and logistics
Purchasers order the material and outsourcing in Proleis and integrate the suppliers in data management via the vendor interface. All parts are identified with a barcode and scanner. The system records the storage locations of the parts, which are transported as planned. All parts are ready on time at the machine and in the assembly area before manufacturing starts. Proleis also manages resources such as machining tools. Assembly orders are automatically generated at the tool setup area based on the NC programs.
Design, manufacturing and assembly
Employees in design, manufacturing preparation and NC programming use Proleis to manage all data and approvals. Approved orders automatically appear in the order supply for the subsequent instance. The system’s flexibility enables changes such as rush orders or modifications to be included at any time. Assemblers access the current design and manufacturing data, process assembly orders, and report status through a paperless process.
Project monitoring with quality assurance and performance indicators
Project managers always have a clear overview of all processes. This is provided by overviews of milestones, degree of completion of dies, and resource assignment. Proleis can also be used to document defects and problems and determine and evaluate performance indicators so that problems are detected in advance and optimization potentials in the manufacturing process are utilized. This also enables reliable recalculation.
Implementing Proleis in the company
Tebis has a concept for implementing Proleis that offloads the customer and provides a quick start of the system. Experts from Tebis Consulting analyze the company’s processes and model its resources and processes in the Proleis and Tebis client/server environment. Manufacturing planning and control as well as data management are generated in company-specific steps. All project participants can now work quickly and effectively with the apps assigned to them for their respective user roles. The apps can be used on mobile devices to access data and evaluations—or via the Internet.
