Tebis Version 4.0 Release 2: Up to 60% faster processes

Tebis has further optimized its CAD/CAM software to better support users in milling. The process provider for the development, design and manufacture of models, molding tools and components has also significantly expanded the scope of its software product palette. Users can now be significantly more flexible and efficient with additional special packages and add-ons.

With the highly efficient milling strategy of adaptive roughing, users can machine components with steep cavities up to 60% faster and still keep tool costs low with optimal service life. The path layout is automatically adapted to the component geometry without full-width machining and with a large depth of cut, small lateral stepover and optimal utilization of the cutting data. Integrated re-roughing enables simple subsequent machining of areas with larger steps from bottom to top with a smaller depth of cut. This results in longer service life and constant cutting conditions. This increases process reliability, and optimal feed rates as well as the maximum material removal rate shorten machine run times. The strategy is especially suitable for high-performance machining. However, the simple availability of this strategy is not sufficient to get the most out of all the advantages. The question of whether this machining strategy is suitable depends not only on the tool, but also on the component geometry, the material to be cut and the machine. Tebis provides users advice on which combinations yield the desired success. Not only do you get the powerful software, but also the necessary expertise regarding the conditions under which it can be used.

Complementing the product structure

Customers benefit from a modernized user interface specifically tailored to CAD/CAM operations in Tebis Version 4.0 Release 1, which Tebis made available on the market last year. This was further supplemented by the new specialized and cost-effective product structure. The process supplier takes yet another step in this direction with Release 2: Users can work with the interface even more intuitively. For example, the input field highlighted in white provides for better orientation on screen. The product pallet has been complemented – some special packages have been added. The expansion possibilities for the industry and special workstations are more flexible. The free Tebis Browser 4.0 viewing tool that supplements the installed Tebis workstations should also be highlighted. This can be used to view CAD files.

Integrated wire EDM

The wire EDM function is now fully integrated in the program. The process provider uses this feature of the integrated NC programming environment from DCAMCUT expert. This leading software is produced by DCAM GmbH, a 100% Tebis subsidiary. This enables the detection of erodable contours, assignment of machine and quality data, definition of calculation parameters for the NC paths, visualization of trimming operations, detection of drop-out to parts and preparation of the NC documentation. Wire EDM is available in the special offer as a stand-alone workstation or as a supplement to an existing mold and die or mechanical engineering package. The special package can be supplemented with design and data management options as well as interfaces.

Still more functions

In Release 2, Tebis has systematically improved automation, process reliability, performance and standardization. The process supplier introduced free-form feature technology in V4.0 R1. In the current version, ruled-form feature technology has been supplemented with additional automating and accelerating functions. Complete 2.5D processing can now be even more conveniently and individually adapted to specific company requirements. 3D stepover based on guide curves outside of the component enables the definition of harmonic NC paths with uniform lateral stepover for finishing. This gives the user a smoother surface and better performance with significant time savings. New functions in surface design simplify and accelerate procedures in CAM preparation. Tebis continues to pursue the goal of dies without reworking for draw die manufacturing. New preparation functions for smooth transitions significantly reduce tryout/spotting effort. Active surface preparation is simultaneously up to 50% faster. Machine collision checking can now be run in the background. Programmers can continue to work during the simulation. Tebis Version 4.0 Release 2 has been available since late April 2016.
