Programming 5-axis movements with 3-axis functions

The tip 5-axis simultaneous milling at constant tilt angle with 3-axis strategies explained how 5-axis toolpaths can be easily created and flexibly used with 3-axis functions. Can I also use this for simultaneous 5-axis machining of parts with multiple cavities?

Yes. The "3to5-axis" option can also be used to very easily create 5-axis NC programs for parts with multiple cavities.

Here's how you do it

1.

Create an NCJob for machining surfaces with the "Nc3axJob/MSurf" function in the Job Manager.

2.

Select the "3to5-axis" option in the "Strategy" dialog in the "Collision avoidance" area.

3.

Select the "Centric" option for the "Alignment" parameter.

4.

The "Rotation axis" parameter is activated. Enter the desired axis of rotation.

5.

Start the calculation. The tool now rotates around the selected axis of rotation.
