IMTS 2016 Recap

Tebis America attended this year’s International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) last month at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. It was a very successful week for Tebis America, our focus was on improving speed, accuracy & safety through the use of automation.

During the week we participated in or hosted several events aimed at educating Tebis users and prospective users.  On Tuesday and Thursday we hosted PBR – Pretzels, Beer & Roughing.  This was a two hour event where we served beer and pretzels in honor of our German roots, while engaging in some excellent CAD/CAM discussion with those who attended.  On Wednesday of IMTS week we had our Regional Sales Manager, Michael Thiessen (West Coast), conduct a seminar.  The hour long presentation was on reverse engineering and its usage in the die world.

This year’s display was also different and included a new graphic and color scheme.  Tebis also debuted a brand new showpiece, the TebisWorld Globe.  The globe weighed around 600 lbs. and was manufactured from a solid block of aluminum donated by Clinton Aluminum.  Tebis’ partners Fooke, Merrifield Machinery Solutions, Haimer, Seco Tools, FCS, & Lomar also contributed to the finished piece.  There was a KUKA Robot display in our booth as well, showcasing our dedication to automation along with Tebis’ robotic capabilities.

Tebis Version 4.0 provoked many exciting discussions. This version was convincing from the start. It was introduced to the market last summer with a modernized interface and a clear operating concept. Release 2 was already rolled out in the spring with expanded packages and functionality, to be followed by Release 3 this fall. Design, manufacturing preparation and NC programming tasks can be performed even better with each new release – no wonder the interest in Tebis 4.0 is still so strong.
