Creating a 6-sided blank with constant casting stock

I work with a permanent fixture and have adjusted my database.cnf file accordingly. When using trim steels, only certain areas are milled. Do I have to scan the entire blank, even including areas that are not machined?

Tebis allows you to create a blank with constant stock allowance from six directions. You scan only the areas that are to be milled but still create a blank for the entire component.

Here's how you do it

1.

Scan the areas of the blank that are to be milled.

2.

Now generate a mesh from the digitized data using the SCAN/MESH/TRIANG function.

3.

Select the NCBASE/BLANK function.

4.

Select the "6 side offset" option. Select the mesh and the CAD data then specify the desired stock allowance.

5.

Confirm your entries. The system creates the blank for the entire component.

Hints

If necessary, use the DESIGN/ANALYZE/COMPARE function to check the distances between the CAD data and the blank.
