Tebis is supporting the Verein für krebskranke Kinder Hannover
Since 1984, this organization has helped children with cancer, their families and the pediatric cancer ward at the Hanover Medical University. Our donations go to the "Courage beads" project in Hannover, Germany. The purpose of this project is to ease the long weeks and months of illness for the children and to strengthen their will to live. New arrivals on the ward receive an individual set of courage beads to thread on a waxed red string. The first bead, in the shape of an anchor, stands for the desire to become healthy again. With each completed treatment and painful examination, a specially shaped courage bead gets added to the string. It is a small reward to lessen the fear as the treatment progresses. Each string tells the tale of what each child has already overcome and proves how strong it is. These courage beads have to comply with the most stringent hygienic standards and therefore are not inexpensive.
