All of the Tebis 3D milling strategies for roughing, finishing and residual stock machining include a wide range of solutions optimized for collision avoidance in specific work situations. For example, depending on the application, the tool automatically avoids collisions or areas at risk are reduced. The combination of precise simulation technology and smooth, slope-adjusted NC paths produces optimal traverse movements of the machine axes. Machining time is reduced to a minimum. 

Extremely user-friendly: 3D milling in Tebis includes functions for 5-axis simultaneous milling in the release direction as well as 3+2-axis milling with positionable axes.

 Roughing – avoiding idle travel

  • You can quickly and easily define any blanks. The material can be machined from different tilt directions. This significantly reduces the computational effort.
  • The blank is updated and passed on to the next machining operation – and the update is always performed using the actual cutter geometry. The system safely and reliably mills only where there is remaining material. 
  • Tebis employs different options for full-cut handling and full-cut avoidance: Depending on the situation, full-cut areas are machined trochoidally, or the path layout is automatically adapted to the geometry without full-cut machining. This is optimal for adaptive machining with HPC cutters
  • All path layouts are automatically smoothed. This enables ongoing optimization of feeds.

  • Strategies for optimized 3D stepover ensure a uniform step on the surface in both flat and steep areas. The part is automatically divided into slope areas that can be manufactured with special strategies and tools – the best prerequisite for automated NC programming in conjunction with Tebis template technology. 
  • High-quality toolpaths.: The NC points are optimally positioned on the surface using HSC point distribution. You can influence the point distribution so that the output toolpaths precisely match your machine control.
  • Precise determination of machining areas: In Tebis, the contour of the virtual tool matches exactly with that of the actual tool used. Therefore, you can optimally use the potential of your HFC cutters even for pre-finishing.

Residual stock – optimized for path and height

Specific strategies are available for residual stock machining depending on the tasks: for example, in fillets or in complex cavities. NC programs that are optimized for path and height reduce machine run times. You also benefit from precise calculation of the milling areas in residual stock machining.
