Tebis Version 4.0 Release 4 is delivered


Tebis Version 4.0 Release 4 is available for download in the Tebis customer portal. With its new release, Tebis continues to consistently pursue its goal of providing users with complete solutions for design and manufacturing that are practically oriented and suitable for automation.

Milling – prismatic machining

Adaptive roughing strategies available in NC2ax functions – The proven adaptive roughing strategies have been incorporated in the NC2ax functions "NC2ax / Mill / MPlan" for machining planar surfaces and "NC2ax / Mill / MPock" for free-form pockets. The path layout is automatically adapted to the geometry without full-cut machining. This enables highly efficient machining of parts with steep cavities. These strategies are outstanding for machining with HPC cutters.

Smooth path layout limitation – New options for machining contours in the "NC2ax / Mill / MCont" function ensure a smooth path layout and improve automated NC programming: They limit the milling area (large image) without changing the path layout.

Milling – 3 axes

Optimized blank view – The optimized blank view for planar roughing with the "NC3ax / Rplan" function lets you stay flexible and achieve an outstanding machining result even for complex blank geometries – you can select the directions from which the blank should be viewed depending on the blank geometry and computational requirement.

Milling – 5 axes

Convenient operation – Ease of use has been significantly improved in 5-axis NC programming: Variables are automatically smooth and thus ensure optimal tool orientation (large image). Toolpaths optimized for tilt angle can be easily created in the "NC5ax / Mcurv" function with the "Normal to component" option, without manually defining

Adjustable control of tool tilt angle – A special highlight is the extended support for contour cutters with barrel-shaped geometry for machining standard or ruled geometries: Tool tilt can be optimally controlled using the "Increasing" and "Variable" strategies according to the respective machining situation – you can protect your tools and reduce machining times with optimal downfeed.

CAD and CAM perfectly matched – You can quickly and easily select the center curves created with the "NCPrep / MidCurve" function in NC programming as structure curves without having to design your own guide elements. 

Gun drilling

Improved cutting conditions for automated machining – A new tool type and a corresponding machining function ensure even easier automation of calculation and machining: The tool type has an extended set of cutting data with specific speeds, feed rates, cooling types and depth sections. The new MDeep2 machining function provides additional parameters for defining optimal cutting conditions in all material and gap areas.

Data preparation


Easily determine modified areas – Area curves can be conveniently created and saved directly in the distance analysis after changes to parts with the "Design / Analyze /
Compare" function – your NC programmers only have to select the corresponding modified area.

Optimal preparation of parts – The "NCPrep / MidCurve" function can be used to analyze radii, automatically assigned colors to them and create center curves. This enables you to optimally prepare subsequent steps – whether for laser hardening of radii, for radius relief in active surface preparation or for creating structure curves for 5-axis NC programming.


Inventor interface available – The interface to Autodesk Inventor is available for the Inventor "Parts" (IPT) and "Assemblies" (IAM) file formats – as for all Tebis interfaces, structure information is also imported in addition to the geometry.

3D design

Create complex shift surfaces without overlap​​​​​​ – You can use the "Design / Surf / Move" function to create shift surfaces without overlap – for example, for trim surfaces or outlines in die manufacturing. You can then freely define the desired angle. Benefit: No reworking.

Active surface design

Relieve outline surfaces at an angle – You can benefit from the extended possibilities for designing outline surfaces and relieving them by a defined angle in the "ActSurf / Contour" function – this automatically prevents overlaps even for very small radii; surfaces can be machined by milling or wire EDM without reworking, no matter whether you manufacture small or large parts.

Easily model complex radii – The "ActSurf / Reduce" function for relieving radii has been further developed: You can now easily model even complex areas with large differences in radius – this enables a constant relief in the die. The key advantage: You can prepare your die surfaces more quickly and achieve outstanding surface quality.

Laser cutting and trim machining

Stanchion design completely revised – The changes in stanchion design ensure a greater degree of automation and greater flexibility. No limits are set for the designer in stanchion layout: it can be freely designed and stanchions of different orientations can be combined in groups. The stanchions can also be automatically trimmed for weight reduction. The possibilities of automatic element selection and template management have also been extended.

Faster implementation in the machine and modifications without lost time – New shape elements such as triangles, pentagons, hexagons and keyholes ensure time-optimized processing on the machine. Modifications can be quickly and conveniently incorporated.


Greater manufacturing reliability – No more cutter breakage: Tool collision checking distinguishes between the cutting and non-cutting areas of the insert – only the cutting area (1) is accounted for when the blank is updated; the non-cutting area (2) is output as a collision on contact with the part.

Mechanical engineering

Efficient use of robots – With part-to-tool technology, part-driven robotic machining, you can deburr parts immediately after unloading from the machine without having to reclamp the part.

Flexible use of cutters – The cutter references for individual toolpaths can be automatically or manually addressed for NC output. This enables maximum flexibility for fine-tuning in manufacturing; specific control defaults are supported.

Optimal tool utilization – You can specify individual service life and warning times for cutters for all tool types in the tool library. This enables even more optimization of end-to-end manufacturing planning: Because all information on service life and warning times can be directly transferred to the ProLeiS MES system, all tools are replaced on time.

Automated NC programming

Faster NC programming, greater reliability – New functions support automated NC programming – NC programs can be created more quickly and manufacturing is more reliable. You can complete the NC calculation and collision check with the tool and machine in a single step and assign the predecessor blank in the Job Manager across machining operations.
