Adaptive Roughing and Integrated Re-Roughing
Milling Strategies for Steep Cavities
The best way to machine a component depends on various factors. Adaptive roughing is especially well suited to components with steep cavities and can also be used very effectively for hard materials. The full potential of this strategy is realized in combination with high performance cutters (HPC).
In adaptive roughing, the large depth of cut and smaller lateral stepover ensure high-efficiency manufacturing. The path layout is automatically adapted to the geometry without full-cut machining.
The formation of larger steps in steep boundary areas is only a disadvantage at first glance: Integrated re-roughing enables machining of these areas from bottom to top with a smaller depth of cut.
