DMG MORI presented the latest trends and innovations for die and mold manufacturing at the TECHNOLOGY EXCELLENCE DAY on November 10, 2021.

Three topics were investigated in detail, with separate presentations and technical discussions for each.

In keeping with the times, the event, which was held in English, was conducted as a hybrid event – both on site at DECKEL MAHO Pfronten and online.

In the third topic, "Case Study – The Capricorn Challenge," Tebis cooperation manager Martin Vortmann took up the ball and quickly turned to address the current challenges in die and mold manufacturing in his presentation "Automation in Die & Mold production – a real Opportunity."

He referred to the study "Market situation and future development in die, model and mold manufacturing" updated in 2021.
In this study, for example, more than 40 percent of the companies surveyed assume that they will have to increase their efficiency by at least 10 percent by late 2022 in order to remain competitive.

The quintessence of Vortmann's presentation: This goal can only be achieved through automated processes
In his presentation, he showed in a practical example from mold manufacturing how this automation can be specifically implemented – from data preparation, to CAM programming to safety testing of the toolpaths.
